Innovation - the common thread throughout its history

It is hard to imagine that the origins of a high-tech company such as Priva lie in a product such as an on/off heaters. The heaters was for heating greenhouses. However, the side-effect, CO2 production, quickly proved to be an additional selling point. Crops grow better due to the CO2 dosing. Even today the heaters are part of the Priva range, albeit in a technologically significantly improved version.

Revolutionary developments

The attention to the climate in the early years formed the basis for a revolutionary development: the first process computer for the horticultural sector. That became reality during the mid-seventies. It was the first step in automation and was swiftly followed by many others. The process computers' intelligence quickly increased, even more so due to the fact that Priva made successful investments in new technology and innovative know-how. The process computers for horticulture were perfected; more attention get paid to efficient treatment of water and fertilizer in the horticulture. Priva develops itself as a supplier of smart water treatment units, where knowledge and experiences are combined towards an efficient solution for a reasonable price.

The expertise, gained in international horticulture, proved to be universally versatile, including in building climate control. From the beginning of the eighties Priva entered that market as well. And not without success. The company's growth was not restricted to Dutch country borders. Foreign business centres were opened in quick succession.

Different market vision

The digital technology used by Priva is developing just as quickly. Markets changed quickly as well. The company received a decisive organisational structure focusing on innovation. An increasing amount of high-tech expertise was represented within the group.
